FG engages 108 independent monitors for intervention programmes in Katsina
The Federal Government has distributed tablets and engagement letters to 108 National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) Independent Monitors.
The independent monitors, who received their letters of engagement Yesterday in Katsina, were drawn from the 34 local government areas of the state.
They were also given a computer tablet each equipped with special apps to monitor and evaluate the intervention programmes.
The devices for the monitoring programmes were locally made in Nigeria, including the Monitoring Application
An Assistant Director in the ministry, Dr. Aminu Ndawa who represented the Minister, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, said the aim of appointing the monitors was to ensure transparency.
He said, “The intervention programmes to be monitored and evaluated include the Conditional Cash Transfer, National Home Grown School Feeding Programme, Government Enterprise and Empowerment programme and N- Power, among others.”
The engagement letter given to the independent monitors showed that they were entitled to a monthly stipend of N30,000 each.
The independent monitors are also to be trained while they were barred from transferring their duties to a third party.
