Katsina gov’t accommodate traditional institutions in new approach to arrest insecurity
Katsina State Government has flagged off the three -tier security arrangement for the 34 local government areas of the state in its efforts to curtail security problem.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Ahmad Ibrahim Katsina, performed the inauguration in Batsari and Danmusa Local Government Areas, on behalf of Governor Aminu Bello Masari, yesterday.
Ibrahim Katsina said the 3-tier security arrangement, which was recently enacted by the State House of Assembly, represents the state government’s proactive approach designed to tackle the present security situation threatening the state.

He further stated that the present arrangements was designed to ”domesticate and localize” earlier security arrangements law, bringing in the communal flavor and people participation in restoring peace.
He said “everyone knows the security challenges facing the country because we have abandoned our traditional values, and relegated the roles of traditional rulers who were supposed to be central in the ongoing war against banditry”.
The composition include, Local Government Chairman as Chairman; Divisional Police Officers in-charge of the Local Government NSCDC, State Security Services, Nigeria Immigration Service and all District Heads in the Local Government.
Others are two or three religious leaders, one from Izala, Darika Sects and CAN, three Community Leaders both Women and Youth to be appointed by the Chairman as well as the representative of serving member of the State House of Assembly.
According to the act, the Head of Local Government Administration was to serve as Secretary of the Committee as their functions were gather information and share intelligence relating to security situation and other suspicious criminal activres in the Local Government that would ensure peaceful coexistence in the State.
