Katsina State House of Assembly receives over Nine Billion Naira 2021 Budget Estimate for Local Governments
Katsina State House of Assembly has received the sum of ninety billion, three hundred and seventy six million, three hundred and fourty one naira as 2021 budget estimate for the thirty four Local Government areas in the State.
The Information contained in a letter read by the Clerk Malam Yusuf Jibril Abdullahi is in compliance with the section ninety two subsection one of the 2000 Local Government law which empowered State House of Assembly to improve the budget of Local Governments in each financial year.
The letter signed by the Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs Alhaji Ya’u Umar Gwajo-Gwajo, indicated that, the local Governments should choose policies and programmes that are most needed in the respective areas to include health, agriculture and water supply sectors among others.
The letter also indicated that each of the thirty four local governments is to make provision of fifty million naira to cater for the security of lives and properties.
Similarly, the sum of fifteen million naira would be budgeted for effective 2021 hajj operation.
The draft budget which contained the total recurrent and capital propose was arranged in compliance with internation public sector account systems IPSAS.
The Speaker Tasi’u Musa Maigari who presided over the sitting referred the matter to the committee on local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs for onward preparation of Defence timetable.
