Katsina to return 7,893 Almajirai to home states, Niger Republic
The Katsina State Government is to repatriate 7,893 Almajirai to their respective home states and country, The Punch reports.
A total of 2,052 out of the number are Nigeriens.
The state Commissioner for Environment, Mallam Hamza Faskari, made the disclosure to journalists on Wednesday evening shortly after the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Aminu Masari.
He did not disclose when the repatriation would be carried out.
He said, “Katsina State Executive Council meeting has approved the repatriation of 7,893 Almajiris of those to be identified of non-indigenes to their various states and Niger Republic.”
The commissioner also spoke about anticipated reforms in the Almajiri school system in the state.
He also disclosed that the meeting approved the sum of N3,365,709.846 to tackle flooding across the state.
