Danja dam: Katsina gov’t pays over N94m compensation to land owners
Katsina State Government has paid about ninety four million naira as the second phase compensation to the communities affected by the Danja Dam Project.
The Commissioner of Water Resources Alhaji Musa Adamu Funtua presented the cheques to the benefiting communities at an occasion held at Kafur Local Government Secretariat.
A total of 142 people whose lands were affected by the Danja Earth Dam and access road project benefited with the second phase compensation.
The Commissioner of water resources Alhaji Musa Adamu Funtua said the payment of the compensation was a directive from Governor Masari to the Ministry to enable the affected communities to feel a sense of belonging.
Alhaji Musa Adamu Funtua assured the commitment of the present administration to execute projects that would improve the socio-economic wellbeing of people in the State.
He pointed out that the dam project, upon completion, will boost irrigation activities and create jobs opportunities to people of Danja and Kafur Local Governments.
The Commissioner of Water Resources, charged the beneficiaries to judiciously use the money in boosting their socio-economic wellbeing.
