Gov Masari made part payment for Katsina students’ NECO results

Commissioner of education in the state, Associate Professor, Badamasi Lawal Charanci has said the delay in the release of Katsina state students 2019/2020 NECO result was no due to non payment of examination fees by the state government.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen Hon. Charanci said the state government has even paid part of the total sum to National Examination Council, NECO.

According to him “people need to know that NECO didn’t release our results for issues known to them. It’s not because we’ve not paid for the examination because as I speak to you now the state government has paid part payment of the money. There were times they (NECO) released the results without us paying. Now we’ve given them some of the money how could anyone say it’s because we didn’t pay.”

When reminded them of the story that showed Katsina, Kano, Niger and Zamfara as the states owing NECO, Charanci said “It’s not true. We’ve a good understanding with NECO. They’ll release the results. We’ll investigate the reason for the delay.”

He said those complaining must have paid “individually,” noting that they shouldn’t wait for government to pay for their results since they didn’t register through the state government.

The Commissioner said the state government is aware of the frustration among students and parents, promising that efforts are being made to ensure that the results are released.

He explained that NBAIS and NABTEB have also not release Katsina results despite the fact the state government had paid the two examination bodies.

While commenting on the WAEC results in the state, Hon Charanci said the feat achieved by students was historic.

“We had never achieved such a feat. It’s historic and the ministry had explained this to the general public. Out of the 28,000 students who sat for the examination in the state, 24,000 got five credits. About 13,500 of them got five credits including English and Mathematics while 560 got nine credits flat. We recorded 86% in the results for the first time in the state.”
