Katsina Assembly Amends Law Establishing UMYUK
Katsina State House of Assembly has passed into law, a bill to amend the Umaru Musa Yar’adua University Law No7 of 2006.
With this development, the Principal Officers of the Institution such as Bursar, Registrar and Librarian will serve for one-tenure of five years.
The Speaker of the House Alhaji Tasi’u Musa Maigari announced the resolution of the House after adopting the recommendations of the report of the House committee on Higher Education.
Alhaji Tasi’u Musa Maigari who presided over the sitting, directed the Clark to forward clean copy of the law to the State Governor for accent.
Earlier, the House Committee on Higher Education, Alhaji Shamsuddeen Dabai, presented the report which was committed into third reading and subsequent passage of the law.
The recommendations included the need for the House to domesticate a single tenure of five years for register, bursar and librarian.
It is also recommended that the tenure can be extended to a period of one year, subject to confirmation of the State Governor in line with the Universities miscellaneous provision amendment act 2012.
