Katsina gov’t controls desertification with 5,000 seedlings
Katsina State Government is to produce Five Hundred Thousands Seedlings to be Planted in the next Rainy Season.
The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Agriculture, Alhaji Ahmed Karofi revealed this while inspecting some Nurseries under Forestry Department across the State.
The places visited include Funtua, Malumfashi, Shargalle, Yashe and Daura among others.
Alhaji Isiyaku Ahmed Karofi expressed appreciation over the level of maturity of the Seedlings and assured of the State Government commitments in that regard.
The Permanent Secretary pointed out that, the current State Administration is committed towards controlling Desertification, hence the resolve to embark on massive campaign of Tree Planting Exercise.
The Director Forestry, Alhaji Saminu Muhammad Daura said Six Nurseries are producing sixty Thousand Seedlings each annually as part of Government effort to address Erosion and other Environmental Problems.
Alhaji Saminu Muhammad expressed appreciation over the commitment of the State Government to ensure habitable environment and called for the support of Farmers to achieve the desired objectives.
