Honorable Umar Ali Bindawa, Member representing Bindawa Local Government at the state House of Assembly on Thursday empowered constituents with N10, 000 cash to support their small businesses.
Umar Ali, who presented the ‘seed money’ to 250 beneficiaries said the gesture was to reduce poverty and unemployment.
He said the empowerment was to compliment the effort of both the Federal and State governments toward empowering, uplifting the standard of living of the citezens..
“Since my assumption, I promised to ensure that women and youth empowerment and employment would be given topmost priority.”
“It is meant to reduce and subsequently banish poverty in the Local Government in line with the cardinal policy thrusts of my representation.
“I am happy to say that I have not let down the people in this regard,” he said.
Governor Aminu Bello Masari while speaking appreciated the lawmaker for the provision of funds to the beneficiaries.
He admonished the youths to embrace skill acquisition programmes wherever they had such opportunities.
According to him, skills acquisition is a potent weapon to fight the scourge of poverty and unemployment.
He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds saying that great businessmen like the Dangotes of this world started small.
Also speaking, the speaker house of Assembly, advised the youths to use the funds for businesses in other to achieve the desired objectives.
