Katsina concerned elders write to Gov Masari, state assembly over Mahdi’s allegations

Some Concerned Katsina State Elders have written to the Katsina State Governor, Rt Hon Aminu Bello Masari and the Katsina State House of Assembly demanding explanation regarding what the called ‘Allegations of misappropriation of funds against the Katsina State government as well as members of the state House of Assembly by Malam Mahdi Shehu’.

The letter dated 7th September and seen by Katsina Post is signed by five (5) people namely Dr. Suleman Suni M.F.R, Sen, M.T Liman, Alh. Dalibi Ibrahim, Engr Yusuf Sule Adamu and Dr. Usman Bugaje.

They also copied the relevant federal anti-corruption agencies of ICPC and EFCC.

In the letter sent to the Katsina State Governor, the elders reminded him of the series of allegations made against him with respect to corruption, gross mismanagement of resources and outright abuse of office by Mal Mahdi Shehu.

According to them, “These allegations are weighty and have a detrimental effect on the lives of our people, For example, it was alleged that the sum of over N52, 000,000,000 (Fity-Two Billion Naira) security funds were misappropriated by your government officials.”

“As much as we do not want to believe in such allegations, we feel it would not be out place to ask you to respond to the allegations”.

In another paragraph, the elders said: “It might interest you to remember that responsibilities of your cabinet squarely lies on your table, once again, the need to come clean out of all allegations cannot be overemphasised, and it will place you on a better pedestal in the annals of Katsina State history”.

Similarly, the elders also asked the members of the state House of Assembly to clear their names and the institution of the allegations made by Mal Mahdi Shehu that all members of the State House of Assembly were awarded contracts to renovate educational facilities across primary schools in Katsina State, and that the contracts were never executed despite the fact that funds have been disbursed for the renovations were never returned to state coffers.
