Citing Transportation University in Daura inappropriate, injustice – Bugaje
Northern Nigeria’s elder statesman, politician and public commentator, Dr Usman Bugaje has described the the Transportation University as a good development but citing it in Daura as inappropriate and clear injustice.
Dr Bugaje, who was a one-time member representing Kaita/Jibia Federal Constituency made this comment in an interview with Voice of America reporter.
“My only concern is that citing the University in Daura is inappropriate and injustice because recently, a Federal Polytechnic was approved by the President to be build in Daura.
“I am afraid that this may constitute a serious nepotism act at the detriment of other parts of the country just because the President comes from Daura”, he said.
According to him, nepotism may also affect the proper running of the University from the employment of its workforce to admission of students.
Another public commentator, Abubakar Aliyu Umar said the Federal Government should have upgraded the Institute of Transport Technology in Zaria to a world class status rather than initiating a new one.
But while commenting, Professor Sani Sambo of Ahmadu Bello University said he believe that the university will improve the human capacity of Nigerians.
Also a staff with the Universal Basic Education Board, Hassan Sardauna Hammayo described the university as a welcome development which will help the economy of the country.
