Katsina gov’t carrying out massive samples collection for COVID-19
The Executive Secretary, Katsina State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Shamsuddeen Yahaya has today paid a courtesy visit to the Maradin Katsina District Head of Kurfi, in the agency’s continued efforts to fight the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic.
The State is carrying out massive sample collection for COVID 19 due to evidence of Community Transmission in the State.
During the visit, Dr Shamsuddeen intimated the traditional ruler of the agency’s current massive sample collection for the COVID-19 samples in some of the state’s Local Government Areas including Kurfi LGA.
Dr Shamsuddeen further said that the pandemic is still present in the population and since majority of people don’t show symptoms of it, but can transmit it, there is still need for the identification of positive cases and their proper management among the public.
“Asymptomatic Cases can infect vulnerable people especially the elderly and those with co- morbidities like Diabetes and Heart Disease with serious Consequence”, he said.
He therefore called on the People to continue to observe social distance, use of face mask, hand washing using Soap and Water and Hand Sanitizer and to avoid overcrowding.
While responding, the Maradin Katsina commended the agency’s leadership and the Katsina State government for a job well done in curtailing the pandemic.
He also assured Executive Secretary of his district support as usual.
The Executive Secretary was accompanied by the agency’s Director Epidemiology and Incidence Manager, Dr Suleiman.
