NBA Katsina, Funtua Branchs take stand on El-Rufai’s dis-invitation to 2020 Conference
The Nigerian Bar Association, Kastina and Funtua Branches in Katsina State stated their stands on the dis-invitation of Governor of Kaduna State, Nasiru El-Rufai to the 2020 Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association in a separate interview with Katsina Post.
The Katsina Branch of the NBA on its part through her Chairman, A.A. Ahmed said it is deeply troubled by last week’s resolution of the National Executive Committee withdrawing the invitation of the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasiru El-Rufai to the 2020 Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association.
According to him, the Nigerian Bar Association Katsina Branch believes that this is in violation of the basic principles of fairness, justice and the rule of law.
“The Nigerian Bar Association Katsina Branch calls on the National Executive Committee to immediately set aside, rescind this parochial resolution. It reeks of divisive intent thereby threatening the unity of our beloved Association.
“We urge the leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association to re-invite Governor El-Rufai to the Conference in order to afford him the chance to respond to the allegations levelled against his person. Denial of fair hearing is the first colossal injustice done to Mal. El-Rufai.”
On his part, the Chairman NBA Funtua Branch, Barr. Abdullahi Barau Faskari said the decision taken by the National Executive Committee of the NBA is not well thought off.
He therefore call for caution going forward in taking decisions like that which has shown tendency of bringing disunity amongst members.
