Worried by the continued loss of life through the activities of Bandits in Katsina waansanigeria peace initiative a coalition of civil society groups campaign against illegal proliferation of arms and light weapons has visited jibiya a border community With Nigeria and Niger Republic as part of community action against illegal small arms proliferation.

Speaking at the palace of the District head of jibiya community the Coordinator of waansanigeria Media and Advocacy centre Mr Martin Igwe expressed shock on the development in Katsina state and promised the district head that ECOWAS and other international bodies will be informed of the need for urgent auction as Magama and jibiya remains part of Nigeria.

An indigene of Katsina and vice-president waansanigeria Comrade Malumfashi Rabiu added that for peace to be sustained in Katsina and Northwest Our border security must be given urgent Attention as the porous borders remains one of route of illegal activities like drugs, human trafficking etc.

Rabiu called for International support for sensation in Border communities and government support of legitimizing businesses in Border communities.

According to waansanigeria thousands survive through small businesses. Especially women and in a country with little opportunity in public sector there is an argent need to sustain peace and legitimate economic activities in Border communities for that will develop the informal sector which forms more than 60% of Nigeria Gross Domestic product.
