Katsina gov’t marks creation of old province with Thanksgiving, prayers
A special prayer session to mark the maiden commemoration of Thanksgiving day for Allah’s blessings and bounties to katsina state has been held in Katsina.
The prayer session was attended by Governor Aminu Bello Masari, his deputy, Quantity Surveyor Mannir Yakubu, the speaker of katsina state house of assembly, Alhaji Tasi’u Musa Maigari Zango, the chief judge, Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar, the Grand Khadi, Qadi Kabir Abubakar Malumfashi, the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika and the state APC chairman, Alhaji Shitu S. Shitu, the secretary to government of katsina state, Dr Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa, the head of service, Alhaji Idris Usman Tune, the Emirs of Katsina and Daura, Alhaji Abdulmummuni Kabir Usman and Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk and most of the members of the state executive council.
Also in attendance are the Katsina based business mogul, Alhaji Dahiru Barau Mangal , ulamas and the academia.
The chairman of the main organising committee, Alhaji Abidu Yazid Rafi dadi explained that the event was organized and sponsored by katsina state government not because people of katsina were not grateful to God before, saying the observance of daily prayers are a testimony that the people of katsina are always grateful to Allah for His blessings and bounties.
He said 1st of August,2020 was selected because it was the day that Katsina was curved out and made a province from the old Zaria province by the colonial masters.
Henceforth, Alhaji Abidu Yazid Rafin dadi announced that every 1st of August will continue to be observed in the state as special Thanksgiving day- Yaumush Shukur.
In a message, the chairman of jama’atil Izalatil Bid’ah wa iqamatis Sunnah-JIBWIS, Sheikh Yakubu Musa Hassan who was represented by Sheikh Mukhtar Jibiya spoke on prophetic sayings that encouraged Muslims to observed prayers.
He prayed for Allah to end the various calamities afflicting the society presently.
The representative of Munazzamatul Islam, Sheikh Muhammad Hadi Balarabe spoke on the need for Muslims to seek for forgiveness from Allah and prayed for an end to the current problems affecting the society.
Also speaking, sheikh Ahmed khairan Muhammad representing Tariqa asked people to stop various actions that could incur the wrath of Allah on the communities.
He requested Muslims to stop backbiting against the leadership that could become a problem in the state.
Sheikh Ismail Zakaria Al kashnawi from the Al qur’aniyyun society said Muslims needed to always remember the bounties bestowed upon them by Allah.
He said in offering prayers, Muslims must show humility and also warned against raining abuses on the leadership.
He cited a parable in which people were traveling in a vehicle and only the driver knew how to move with the vehicle.
He said that the driver may become Ill and asked whether the passengers will pray for the driver to become well or pray for him to die knowing fully well that there will be no driver to take them home.
A scholar from kofar Baru in Daura prayed for the leadership to have success in steering the affairs of the state.
In a remark, the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk expressed gratitude to Governor Aminu Bello Masari for the good leadership qualities being exhibited in steering the affairs of the state.
He spoke at length on how the two provinces of Daura and katsina were merged.
Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk prayed for continued peace to enable the state to continue to prosper.
The chairman of Katsina state council of chiefs and the Emir of katsina, Alhaji Abdulmummuni Kabir Usman praised Governor Aminu Bello Masari for organizing the prayer session, stressing that a gathering of this nature will unite the people of the state.
He spoke on good manners and the need to stop jealousy against the leadership.
The Also spoke against some of the actions innimical to the well being of the people of the state, adding that such acts include kidnappings, rape and other social vices in the state.
Alhaji Abdulmummuni Kabir Usman advised the Governor to reach out to katsina people wherever they might be residing to obtain first hand information to move the state forward.
The Emir of katsina asked journalists not to encourage slandering and defamation of the characters of not only the leadership but people in the state.
In a remarks, Governor Aminu Bello Masari explained that it was important for the state to have a day for Thanksgiving- Yaumush Shukur to expressed gratitude to Allah for His blessings and bounties to the state.
The date was selected, according to the Governor after the state history and culture bureau was contacted, which recommended the date.
He said it was now 86 years after katsina got its independence from Zaria province.
Alhaji Aminu Masari announced that Katsina state government will direct local governments and academic institutions to always observe 1st August as prayers day in the state.
He later prayed for peace to always thrive in the state for rapid development of the people.
Highlight of the occasion was special prayers by the deputy chief Imam of katsina central mosque, Alhaji Dayyabu Liman, the former Grand Khadi, Alhaji Amadi Batagarawa and Liman Abba Muhammad Aliyu.
