A renowned NGO in Katsina, Kungiyar Hannu Daya has donated 159 bags (10kg) of rice to various households, victims of flood in some Katsina communities.
Katsina Post reports that over 100 households were affected by flood due to torrential rainfall in Gafai, Yansiliyu communities in Katsina.
Speaking while presenting the items to the victims, the Chairman of the NGO, Dr. Sani Abdu Fari said that the gesture by the NGO was to assist the victims especially at this time of Sallah celebrations.
“We are very concerned about the flood that occurs in your communities and we have decided to come and offer this assistance as our contribution to you as brothers and sisters.
“It is one of our programmes in HANNU DAYA, that whenever there are incidences like this, we contribute out of the little contribution we are getting from our businesses to provide succour to humanity.
“We provide this assistance to you with the massive contribution of our members especially Alhaji Muhammadu Usman Sarki, the Chairman Aldusar Group of Companies.
“As we are donating 10kg bags of rice to you as our palliative for Sallah Celebration today we are calling for judicious use of the items,’’ he said.
Maiunguwan Gafai thank the NGO for the gesture, saying “it came at the right time, considering the needs of the victims.’’
He therefore, called on the Government, other NGOs to emulate the Gesture and come to the aid of the flood victims in the communities.
Malama Nana, representatives who spoke on behalf of the victims thanked the association for the donation.
They urged governments at all levels to emulate the gesture.
The NGO had recently provided the affected communities with water pumps to enable them remove the flooding water in the affected areas.
The NGO, HANNU DAYA organisation is well-known for it Humanitarian activities in Katsina State and beyond.
