The lawmaker representing Mani constituency, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Sabiu Muduru has called on Katsina state government to consider reopening of primary and secondary schools as well as Islamiyya, and Quranic schools in the state.
While presenting the motion before the house, Aliyu Muduru noted that the reopening of the schools would surely suppress the alarming increase of social vices bedevilling in the society.
Aliyu Muduru said it felt highly unfair with the manner in which government handled the issue of school reopening especially now that the number of COVID19 cases has significantly reduced in the sate.
He attributed the possible increase in cases of child abuse, rape, homosexuality in the state to the idleness of children not going to school noting the reopening would off more burden for parents.
“Without mincing words, education is the bedrock of any civilisation, it is therefore necessary for the state government to make our schools resume. Because It is on record that the pandemic has considerably reduced in the state.”
Muduru noted that it is time to see COVID-19 as our new reality which requires creative ideas to ensure that activities go back to normal while reducing the risk of the citizens contracting the disease.
“It is highly important if the state government could spend the remaining money raised for COVID-19 to safeguard the resuming teachers and the students, while facilitating for reopening of our schools.” He added
