Mahdi’s Allegation: Water Resources Commissioner debunks alleged Ajiwa dam contract scam

The commissioner of water resources, Honourable Musa Adamu Funtua has discredited Mahdi’s claim of alleged fraud in Ajiwa Dam rehabilitation contract scam.

Mahdi has in a video accused Katsina state governor of budgeting N1.8bn and N4bn of the rehabilitation of Ajiwa Dam in 2016 and 2019 budget respectively, and without following due process while awarding the contract.

While addressing journalists in his office, the commissioner labeled the claim as baseless without an iota of truth.

Musa Adamu explained that the total amount budgeted for the rehabilitation of the Dam is N1.9bn noting that since 40% of the amount was paid to the contractors in 2016.

He further debunked the claim made by Mahdi on awarding procedure said, “On the issue of dishonesty on the awarding procedure as claimed by Mahdi is also a blatant lie. The Government had followed all the necessary procedures in awarding contracts as required including notifying public on newspaper for interested companies”.

Recalled that The secretary to government of Katsina state, Dr Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa has debunked allegations of financial misappropriations leveled against government on security matters in the State.

Dr Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa was responding to a video made by one Mahadi Shehu that went viral on social media and broadcast on a private Radio station in Kaduna.

The secretary to government explained that except for security being provided to Wind Mill project in Lambar Rimi, which the amount was completely far from what Mahadi quoted.

He revealed that the security posted at lambar Rimi received payments to the tune of over 800,000 against the quoted figure of six million Naira right from inception of the project, adding that now that the contractor had returned to site, the state government had stopped paying security guards at the project site.
