Katsina Gov flag off distribution of relief materials to IDPs
Governor Aminu Bello Masari has flagged off the distribution of relief materials to internally Displaced Persons, IDPs in eleven local governments in the state.
Addressing people at the venue of the distribution exercise held at former paultry production unit along Mani road, katsina, Governor Aminu Bello Masari expressed gratitude to President Muhammad Buhari and officials of National Management Agency, NEMA for providing the relief materials to the IDPs in the state.
Alhaji Aminu Masari directed that the items must be judiciously distributed to the people affected by banditry in the state.
The Governor told the people to note that if one who is not affected by banditry benefit from the assistance, then such a person should awaits for the banditry to affect him.
He recalled that throughout the period of his civil service career and later in politics, he had discovered that people who go about seeking for assistance in the name of an ailment later falls victims of such diseases when the people are tired of his begging syndrome.
Therefore, he requested people to fear God and allow only those affected by banditry to receive the relief materials.
Earlier in a welcome remarks, the state commissioner of sports, Alhaji Sani Danlami informed the gathering that the relief materials were provided by the federal ministry of Humanitarian Affairs through NEMA to katsina state SEMA for distribution to IDPs.
He said that the items were brought to katsina on four lorries that have filled three stores to capacity.
Items to be distributed, he said are only samples of the relief materials.
He cited example with Faskari local government that would receive 1040 bags of rice, 1040 bags of beans, 1040 bags of maize and 72 bags of salt.
Others he said are 120 Jerry cans of oil, 114 packets of maggi, 240 cartons of tomatoes, 2080 mattresses , blankets and buckets.
Alhaji Sani Danlami said local governments would receive relief materials based on the number of IDPs .
In an address on behalf of heads of local government administration, that of Batsari showered encomiums on the governor for the concern to IDPs, especially those from Tsawwa and Dankar.
He revealed that as the IDPs have comfort in the camp, there was a marriege at the Batsari IDP camp, which was solemnised in the presence of the state commissioner of sports Alhaji Sani Danlami.
In a vote of thanks on behalf of District heads from the eleven local governments, the Yandakan katsina and District head of Dutsinma, Alhaji Sada Muhammad Sada praised the Governor for the concern shown towards the plight of the people affected by banditry.
Alhaji Sada Muhammad Sada assured that the items would be judiciously distributed to the intended beneficiaries.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of samples of the relief materials to the committee members at the local governments level for onward distribution to IDPs.
