Troops Bomb More Bandits Camps, Rescue 6 Kidnap Victims, Arrest 21 Informants In Katsina
The troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI in continuation of the subsidiary Operation ACCORD have against bandits in Katsina and neighbouring states have rescued six kidnap victims and arrested 21 collaborators.
The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche said the troops on 20 June 2020, conducted a robust clearance patrol to identified bandits’ major enclaves at Gobirawa and Bawa-Daji in Batsari LGA of Katsina State following actionable technical and human intelligence on the presence of bandits at the said locations.
He said the troops came in contact with a large number of bandits, but effectively overwhelmed them with an aggressive posture and superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their camps and flee in disarray.
He said a follow-up exploitation operation in the general area indicated that several bandits were likely killed in the encounter as huge blood stains were visible along the bandits’ escape route.
He added that the troops destroyed 5 major bandits’ camps and recovered 4 empty magazines, 5 motorcycles, one bandolier and 2 pairs of military uniforms, amongst other items.
“Furthermore, 6 kidnap victims were rescued by troops while 21 suspected bandits’ collaborators were arrested during the operation,” he stressed
On same day 20 June 2020, the troops also conducted an aggressive clearance operation to identified bandits’ enclaves at Biyaka, Randa, Ruma, Garin Inu, Shekewa, Gurbin Tsauni and Garin Buda villages, all in Batsari LGA.
He said the troops who cleared suspected bandits hideouts also neutralised one bandit while several others fled with gunshot wounds.
They also recovered one dane gun and 4 mobile phones, amongst other items.
