Katsina gov’t moves to reform Almajiri system of education
The Katsina State government under the leadership of Governor Aminu Bello Masari has initiated move to reform the Almajiri system of education to conform with the current reality.
This was disclosed by the state’s committee Chairman on data collection of Almajiri schools, Alhaji Hussaini Adamu Karaduwa during an interactive session with the proprietors of the Almajiri schools in Katsina Local Government on Tuesday at the council chambers of Katsina Local Government Area.
According to him, Governor Aminu Bello Masari in his wisdom, wants to approach the issue of Almajiri system of education in a different way from other states governments that chose repatriation of Almajiris even without proper documentation.
Alhaji Hussaini also listed the terms of Reference of the committee he is chairing to include general and exhaustive census of the Almajiris Schools in the state, gathering suggestions of ways to better the system from the general public as well as advising the government on proper ways to improve the system.
Also speaking during the interactive session, a renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Munnir Sheikh Ja’afar drew the attention of the school proprietors to open their hearts and welcome the government initiative assuring them that there are no any sinister moves to undermine or shortchange them or the Almajiris system of education.
