A’isha Buhari Donate Food, Other Essential Commodities To Katsina IDPs

The First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Buhari has donated relief materials worth Thousands of Naira to the Internally Displaced Persons in Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The materials included food and other essential commodities that would meet the immediate needs of the people living in the camp.

Presenting the items at the Batsari Model Primary School IDP camp on behalf of the First Lady, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajia Rabi’a Muhammad Daura said that the donation was meant to provide succor to the IDPs, and not to compensate their losses.

Hajia A’isha Buhari said she really shared their griefs and urged them to be brave in bearing with the tragic moment as everything was being done by governments to curb the heartless activities of the bandits that made them homeless.

She charged the security agents to redouble their efforts to end the prolonged crisis that was consuming innocent lives and destroying unquantifiable property in Katsina State.

The First Lady also sympathised with those who lost their loved ones to the recent bandits attacks on some communities in the area, and pray to God to grant them eternal rest.

The Commissioner said that the donation was a continued commitment of the First Lady in complimenting government efforts through her pet project; Future Assured Programme in response to the victims of the crisis.

Hajia Rabi’a gave the break down of the donated items as; 1000 bags (10 Kg) of rice, 1, 250 (2 litter) gallons of cooking oil and 100 family size cartons of indomie.

Orthers included 5 big sacks of different sizes of slippers, 25 cartons of soap, 11cartons of different torch light for domestic and security use.

In their separate remarks, the Head of the Local Government Administration and the District Head of Batsari appreciated the concern shown by A’isha Buhari to the people of the area as well as the gesture which according to them would impact immensely the lives of the IDPs in that temporary camp.

Batsari was one of the eight frontline local government area worth heated by armed banditry in the State.
