Sen Barkiya Secure More Relief Materials for Victims of Bandit Attacks in Katsina
The senator representing Katsina Central, Engr. Kabir Abdullahi Barkiya, has secured allocation of palliative and relief materials for victims of bandit attacks in various communities in Katsina.
The feat was achieved after various motions and letters to concerned government agencies by the Distinguished senator on the need for urgent intervention to alleviate the sufferings of the concerned communities and individuals in various IDP camps in the state.
The presidency has however agreed and has authorized the Ministry of Humanitarian and Disaster Management to allocate special relief packages to be distributed to the affected communities and individuals in the state. The distribution of the materials was flagged off today in Katsina by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs & Disaster Management and Sen. Barkiya.
Senator Kabir Abdullahi had in various sittings in the Senate called the attention of the chamber to the persistence banditry attacks and deplorable condition of people in communities in Batsari, Safana, Danmusa, Kurfi, Kankara, Faskari and others. His efforts have started yielding fruit as the Senate has summoned the Service Chiefs and IGP to appear before it to explain to them the strategies being deployed to eliminate all forms banditry in Katsina and volatile areas in Nigeria.
Earlier during the time of COVID-19 lockdown and Ramadan, the senator had personally distributed some palliatives and relief materials to cushion the hardship of some individuals in communities in his constituency. And plans are in the pipeline to do more in no distant future.
