The Secretary to the Government of Katsina State, Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa and the Emir of Katsina Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman were among the thousands of mourners that thronged Yantumaki town today for the funeral of the late District Head of Yantumaki, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku Maidabino.

The funeral prayer which was held at the deceased’s residence, around 11: 30am was led by the Chief Imam of Yantumaki Central Mosque, Malam Babangida Sada after which his remains were taken to the grave yard amidst crowded sympathisers for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

In his condolence to the immediate family and people of Yantumaki district, the SGS, Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa lamented over the unfortunate incident that claimed the life of the District Head.
He described the deceased as a peace loving gentleman, selfless and hard working leader who had contributed immensely towards achieving lasting peace in his domain and the State at large.

Mustapha Inuwa said his demise was indeed an irreparable loss not to the immediate family, Yantumaki district or Danmusa Local Government but, the entire Katsina State.

The SGS pray Allah to accept his martyrdom, grant him eternal rest and the family fortitude to bear the
irreparable loss.

Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa warned that this heinous acts of the bandits would not deter government and the security agents from the on going military onslaught on the bandits until the State wins the war.

He assured that the perpetrators of this particular and other dastardly acts must be made to pay the consequences.

He appealed to the people to support government as well as the security agents in the fight by providing useful information that would help to curb the menace.

Also in his condolence the Emir of Katsina urged the family members and the entire people of the domain to take solace in the exemplary life of the late District Head.

He called on law abiding citizens to continue to pray for peace and should not relent in reporting any suspicious movements to the appropriate authorities.

Others who attended the funeral of late Abubakar Atiku included Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rt. Hon. Ya’u Umar Gwajogwajo, Member representing Danmusa constituency in the State Assembly, Alhaji Aminu Danmusa, District Heads, Chief Executives of various parastatals, permanent secretaries, and host of other personalities from far and near.

The late Sarkin Fulani Dangi and District Head of Yantumaki, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku Maidabino was said to have been killed by suspected bandits who attacked his residence in Yantumaki around 12pm, yesterday.

According to Police report, the suspects armed with AK 47 ruffles broke into the house and shot him to death and later also shot his watchman who has now been receiving treatment in at a public hospital.

Aged 65, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku left behind 3 wives and 19 children.

Similarly, the SGS, Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa has condoled the family of the former APC chairman of Batsari Local Government, late Alhaji Abdulhamid who was also attacked and killed by some bandits near Batsari, on Saturday.

However, a confirmed report said all the 3 bandits who killed the APC chieftain were also killed in a swift response by some repentant bandits that were aiding security agents in the current fight against armed banditry in the State.
