Explainer: Are Sundays lockdown free days in Katsina?
There are a lot of questions begin for answers regarding the issue of lockdown days and other lockdown free days in Katsina State.
The press release issued by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Alhaji Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa on 28th of May, 2020 is supposed to be an explainer for the whole issue, but the truth is, many got confused with it.
But the truth is, in simple terms, only Fridays are lockdown-free day but Sundays are not.
The press release reads in part, “His Excellency the Governor of Katsina State, Rt Hon. Aminu Bello Masar, CFR has approved for the temporary lifting of lockdown order on Every Friday of the week throughout the State.
“This include lifting ban on Friday Prayers and inter-Local government travel across the State.
“Governor Aminu Bello Masari has also lifts ban on Church Services in all the 34 Local Government Area of the State.
“Easing of the lockdown order is to take effect from Friday, 29 May.”.
Read between the lines, while “lifting of lockdown order on every Friday” was explicitly stated in the press release, the only ban lifted on on Sunday is “on Church Services in all the 34 Local Government Area of the State.”
This, by implications mean only Christians and church services are exempted from the lockdown order on Sundays.
