TRIBUTE TO GOVERNOR MASARI AT 70: THE BIOLOGICAL ALTRUIST

To people across Nigeria, may 29th, is a day of liberation but to the good people of Katsina State as Providence will have it, 29th May is a day of twofold celebrations. The celebrations of liberation and altruistic. His Excellency, the executive governor of katsina stste, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari CFR. FNIM, was born on the 29th of May, 1950 at Masari, Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina, to the family of Malam Bello Masari. He started his education at Kafur Primary School in 1957 and proceeded to bag his first leaving school certificate in Malumfashi Primary School in 1963. His Secondary School Education followed subsequently at the Government Secondary School Funtua between 1964 and 1968.
The Philanthropist and Restorer’s sojourn into the Public Service started in 1969, at the North Central State Water Board as a Technical Assistant. His career evolved through undergoing training and capacity building to the level of Assistant Works Superintendent in 1972, further he got promoted to the position of Chief Procurement Officer in 1987 at the then Kaduna State Water Board. His inexplicable diligence and dedication to his duty earned him a nomination and sponsorship to attend Middlesex Polytechnic in the United Kingdom, where he bagged his Postgraduate Diploma in 1987.
He assumed the position of District Manager after the creation of Katsina State, at the katsina Water Board where he worked and served his state till 1990 when he was promoted to the level of Assistant General Manager Operations at the Board.
After the return of the Civil rule and the lift on the ban on politics, during Sa’idu Barda administration, he was appointed as the Hon. Commissioner of Works, Housing, and Transport, Katsina State.
In 1999 during the final transition to Democracy, Masari contested for the position of Member, House of Representatives of Malumfashi /Kafur Federal Constituency where he got their full support and won due to his selfless nature and returned elected to the same office in 2003.
Following his outstanding service to the nation, he was Awarded with the National Honor as Commander of the Federal Republic of (CFR) in 2005 by the then Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of the Federation; Chief Olusegun Obasanjo (GCFR). The Nigerian Politician under the platform of the All Progressive Congress emerged as the Executive Governor of Katsina State.
He was also recognized by the late Emir of Katsina Alh. (Dr) Muhammad Kabir Usman (CFR) who found him worthy and bestowed upon him the prestigious title of Dallatun Katsina. Later the tittlr of Matawallen Hausa was conferred on him by the Daura and so many traditional tittles in various emirates and kingdoms across the country
Masari was also acknowledged in the academia, which earns him the Honorary Doctorate Degree of letters (Honoris Causa) by the Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi, Benue State University of Nigeria.
The United States also presented him with Congressional Commendation Award by the Georgia Legislative Block Caucus and he is an inductee of the African American Leadership Hall of Fame by the African Magazine. He was also recognized by The Sun Newspaper in 2016 with the Courage in Leadership Award.
Dallatu received the ZIK Award of good governance, the Tunisian Award of science and also emerged as the Best Performing Governor in the North by the postgraduate students of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria
Alh. Masari is married to three wives and blessed with children. He is a great lover of sports and education, his trill for such drove him into participating in various Seminars, Conferences and workshops.
Over the Five years of his administration, Masari has proven to be of inexplicable character and attitude, one who stood firm in the path of dedication, tolerance and change by restoring Katsina to its glory and establishing a hospitable society free from insecurity and illiteracy.
The imprint he has made in the education sector is visible and guarantees assurance for a secured future in the state. This clearly depicts the statement of Dr Yusuf Maitama Sule, the legendary Danmasanin Kano, who once asserts that The new breed without the old breed would breed greed ” Yes Masari represent this assertion because he believes that the best organization in the world is the one with combination of old and young as you need the wisdom and experience of the old as well as the dynamism, radicalism and youthful exuberance of the young.
