KEDCO apologize for the prolonged power outage in Katsina, Daura, offers explanation
Below is the announcement they made:
We wish to apologize for the prolonged power outage experienced by our esteemed customers in Katsina since Friday 22nd May 2020 @22:48hrs
MVA TRI developed a fault affecting 38MW in the following 33KV feeders at Power House, Ajiwa and Poly.
On the same day, 22/05/2020, these affected feeders were migrated to 30MVA TR3 which is a smaller capacity transformers, limiting total Power evacuation to only 15MW to TR3.
This position was further compounded on 24/05/020 (Sallah Day) when the 132KV Kano-Katsina line developed a fault which led to the isolation of both Katsina line and Daura 132KV line.
This development placed Daura off the Grid aside the power limitation in Katsina town.
Today (27/05/2020 10:02rs, Katsina line was restored while Daura 132KV line is still out. However, the faulty 60 MVA TRI in Katsina is still faulty hence all loads in Katsina town are still on the 30 MVA TR3 while Data is still out.
All these events have greatly affected our services in Katsina and all the neighboring LGA’s which include: Daura. Mani, Jibia, Mashi, Batagarawa, Kimi, Batsari towns.
However, while we expect the issue resolved within the shortest possible time we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you.
