COVID-19: KEDCO donate rice, oil, N2m to Katsina gov’t as palliatives
The management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has today presented palliatives to the Katsina State Government for onward distribution to residents of the states.
The Executive Governor of Katsina State, Rt Hon Aminu Bello received the palliatives on behalf of the Katsina State government.
The Managing Director of KEDCO, Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna represented by chief operating office, Mr Vijay Kumar listed the items brought as palliatives to katsina to include 1000 bags of 10kg rice, 1000 gallons of 4 litres ground nut oil and a bank draft cheque of 2 million Naira.
Mr Vijay Kumar assured that KEDCO would ensure constant power supply to make people enjoy stay at home during the pandemic.
While speaking, Governor Aminu Bello Masari urged the management of the KEDCO to redouble their efforts towards discharging their mandates as the state government still shoulders most of them.
Governor Masari revealed that government now provides transformers, repairs lines damaged by either rains or winds and accidents.
He said that the state government is investing heavily in making sure that supply of power had reached everywhere.
He said in the last four and a half years, the state government had constantly every month paid KEDCO promptly and constantly so that Ajiwa water works and the General Hospitals do not suffer power cuts.
But the Governor lamented that even in the government house, power could hardly be run for eight hours, saying most of the main air-conditioning system have been suffering because of low voltage.
Alhaji Aminu Masari had earlier thanked and appreciated KEDCO for showing concern for the people during the pandemic.
He hoped and pray that the pandemic will come to an end very soon, adding that whatever happens in post Covid-19 in the world, people will definitely have a new way of life.
The Governor therefore expressed gratitude to KEDCO for the donation of the palliatives and assured that the right people will benefit from the kind gesture.
