Katsina assembly ask Masari to review peace deal with bandits

Katsina State House of Assembly has faulted the ongoing peace and accord deal entered with bandits in the state, decrying recent spike in the criminality across the state, Daily Trust reports.

The state government under the leadership of Aminu Bello Masari had entered into an accord to tackle banditry in the state.

Arising from its emergency sitting, the house asked the state executive arm to revisit the deal with the various gangs operating as bandits.

Speaking on the issue, the Deputy Speaker and member representing Faskari LGA, Engr Dalhatu Tafoki, ‎said the assembly was deeply concerned over the increasing insecurity across the state.

Reacting, Masari said President Muhammadu Buhari has approved new strategies to tackle the banditry.

Speaking while giving an update on COVID-19 in the state, he said coronavirus was negatively affecting the implementation of the strategies.
