Katsina State Government has recorded it is first confirmed case of coronavirus on 7th, April, 2020.
Since then, the number of contracted patients is worrisome. As of 4th, May, 2020, the State has recorded 75 confirmed cases of coronavirus pandemic.
As at such time of desperation, medical practitioners are the crucial agents known to be battling with the situation across the state.
A doctor working with the state government and who craved for anonymity alleged that about 2 weeks ago, a 30 years old medical doctor working in one of the Katsina State General Hospitals was exposed to a confirmed case of COVID-19 pandemic in his effort to resuscitate a patient, who turned out to be positive for the virus.
More so, the doctor has been on self isolation for over a week, and his sample is yet to be taken for examination.
”If a priority must be given in the war against COVID-19, aren’t health care workers entitled to the highest priority possible?” Says a medical colleague who craved for anonymity.
According to our source, The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) have visited the state several times during his self isolation period.
However, the agency only visit traditional rulers and some high profiled individuals for sample collections.
He also expressed his disappointment with the government on how it politicised the pandemic and give priority to elites instead of the general public.
”Why is it being publicized in the media that a response team is available for everyone 24/7 while the reality is they only respond to those with silver spoons?” He added.
Lastly, the doctor urged the state government to be God fearing in treating their patient without fear or favor of high profiled personalities across the state.
