Katsina state gov’t earmarked N2bn to fight COVID-19
The Katsina State Government has earmarked ‘about N2bn’ to fight Corona Virus otherwise known as COVID-19 in the revised 2020 budget, Katsina Post learned.
This was disclosed to newsmen by the Katsina State Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Faruk Lawal Jobe during a press briefing shortly after the State Executive Council meeting at Government House Press Centre on Wednesday.
According to the commissioner, the budget review is necessary to accommodate the current realities of dwindling revenue and COVID-19 intervention.
“In our projections for the revised 2020 budget, statutory revenue and overhead cost for all except the critical sectors have been revised downward with 30 percent, capital expenditure also been reviewed downward by 13 percent while projections for the Internally Generated Review were maintained,” he said.
Hon Jobe also said that the budget performance for the first quarter of 2020 stands at 44 percent.
