His Excellency the Governor of Katsina State Rt Hon. Aminu Bello Masari CFR has directed the lockdown of Katsina Local Government Area with effect from 7:00am on Tuesday 21 April, 2020.
Governor Aminu Mason said that this follows the results from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) which confirmed two persons positive of COVID-19 in Katsina Town.
The two new COVID 19 cases were identified as businessmen residing at Kofar Kaura Layout and behind Muhammadu Dikko Stadium who had been traversing other parts of the country.
The Governor said the decision was taken after wide consultation with COVID-19 Emergency Response Committee chaired by the Deputy Governor and other stakeholders in order to curtail the spread of the ravaging disease.
However he said that the COVID-19 Emergency Response Committee will identify and earmark pharmaceuticals, grains and provision stores and water vendors to provide services where necessary.
Furthermore, Banks will be allowed to operate for some time to enable people especially workers to access their April Salary.
Governor Aminu Bello Masari has further directed restriction of inter-Local Government movement within the other 31 Local Government Areas except Daura, Dutsinma and Katsina where the total shutdown is applied.
Security Agents would be drafted in the affected areas to enforce total compliance with the lockdown order.
Therefore, people are strongly advised to stay at home and use the forthcoming holy month of Ramadan to fervently pray to Allah to end the Coronavirus pandemic.
