Lockdown: Katsina residents rushes for last minute shopping

There is currently an unusual heavy movement of people on major roads and markets in Katsina metropolis as residents geared up for the total closure order by Katsina State Government, Katsina Post learned.

Recall that the Katsina State Governor, Rt Hon Aminu Bello Masari yesterday ordered for the total lockdown of Katsina Local Government Area following the confirmation of two new cases of coronavirus in the metropolis.

When Katsina Post went round the city, our reporters noticed unusual heavy presence of people rushing to make last minute shopping of groceries and other commodities in preparation for the lockdown.

One of our reporter who visited the Hajiya Baika market also known as Katsina central market noticed that the market was busy with heavy traffic of individuals rushing to shop for their needs.

The situation is the same in Chake market and Tsohuwar kasuwa all in Katsina metropolis.

In an interview with Malam Kabir, one of the people that came for shopping, he told Katsina Post that he don’t want to be caught unaware and that he want to be fully ready for any unforseen circumstances.

“As you can see I’m buying all what I need and can lay my hands on, nobody know when this is going to end, so I want to be fully prepared.” he said.

A woman also we interviewed and who pleaded for anonymity said she has small children that is why she want to gather enough food.
