Breaking: Bandits killed many in a multiple coordinated attacks on 6 Katsina villages
Many people including vigilantes are feared dead following a multiple coordinated attacks on six villages in three local government areas of Safana, Danmusa and Dutsinma Katsina state, Katsina Post learned.
The villages attacked are Mai Kada, Barza, Gurzar Kuka and Gurzar Gamji all in Danmusa LGA.
Others are Kurcen Giye and Kurcen Dutse of Dutsinma LGA and part of Runka village of Safana Local Government Area.
People in the affected communities who spoke with Katsina Post said the attacks were believed to be a retaliation from their previous attack days earlier by the vigilantes and community members.
Some sources however informed Daily Trust that the attacks were coming few days after relief materials were shared to some Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the area.
The beneficiaries were said to have gone home with food items given to them by the government when the bandits struck in the early hours, snatching them away.
The villagers formed some resistance which led to more bandits coming out in large numbers to attack unsuspecting people in the areas and killing many, our reporter gathered.
Another source in a phone call interview informed Katsina Post that the bandits came on over one hundred motorcycles and began shooting sporadically.
“After several efforts by community members to call the authorities, a helicopter and security personnel were deployed and chased the bandits to the bush.
“Later on, the bandits regrouped and blocked the road linking Mara village of Danmusa LGA with Runka village of Safana LGA”. Our source confirmed to us.
When contacted, Police spokesman in the state is yet to respond to enquiries made on the attack.
