The Katsina State Emergency Response Committee on COVID-19 has so far received donations from individuals and corporate organizations amounting to N207.6 million.

The committee is also currently pursuing pledges to the tune of N33.5m from other people as part of their contribution towards fighting the pandemic in the State.

The Chairman of the COVID-19 Emergency Response Committee who also double as Deputy Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu, disclosed this while briefing journalists on Friday at his office.

However, according to him, the Committee have so far approved N172,712,347.00 for various projects and activities from the donations received.

Some of the activities carried out by the committee includes: Training of 66 medical personnel at N3.8m, Sensitization and enlightenment at N4.5m, Procurement of Hygiene materials distributed at Juma’at Mosques and Churches at N5.5m, Fumigation of Mosques and Churches at N19m and Payment of monthly allowance for medical personnel taking care of the confirmed patients at Federal Medical Center, Katsina at the cost of N10.3m.

Other expenses carried out by committee are the Conversion of wards to isolation centers at the General Amadi Rimi Specialist Hospital (GARSH) and the Daura General Hospital at N19. 5m, Procurement of medical equipment for the Isolation center at GARSH at N106.7m and Sensitization by Katsina State traders association at N3.5m.
