Women affairs Commissioner educates women on prevention against coronavirus in Katsina

Katsina state Commissioner for women affairs, Hajiya Rabi’ah Muhammad Daura has educated women in the state on preventive measures against the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The commissioner in a press conference revealed that women are the backbone of any society hence the need for them to be protected, stay safe against any contagious disease.

She stated that, even though there is no confirmed case of COVID-19 in the state, women can play a vital role in the war against the menace not only Katsina, Nigeria and the world at large.

The commissioner implored women in the state to practice frequent handwashing with soap, sanitizers or ashes as a measure to tackle the spread of COVID-19.

“Women in the state should practice frequent handwashing for themselves and their children as recommended by health organizations with either soap, ashes or alcohol based-sanitizers”.

She also revealed that “We must practice social distancing, avoiding the unnecessary crowd of any kind such as wedding event, naming ceremony even condolence to some extent for our own protection.”

“Apart from social distance, wearing a face mask is equally important to avoid the spread of COVID-19. We should be wearing facemask especially when in public.”

The commissioner also stressed the importance of personal hygiene to women when at home or in public, noting that an elbow arm or tissue paper should be used while sneezing and to be dispose properly after use.

“We should use or elbow arm or tissue paper while coughing or sneezing, and we have disposed it properly in a dustbin where our children cannot get contact with.”

“This is my own advice that we must look at in other to stop the pandemic. We have to stay safe and protect our family, our love ones from contracting COVID-19. She added
