Katsina gov’t begins verification of pensioners 

Katsina state Government has reitrated its determination for the improvement of Pensioners welfare in the state.

The Head of Civil Service of the state (HOS), Alhaji Idris Usman Tune disclosed this shortly before the Flagg off of verification exercise for Pensioners in the state, in Daura.

He said this will be achieved through payment of gratuity and accrued pension to retirees.

The HOS revealed that present administration at its inception mate huge amount as back log of unpaid gratuity but so far over N25 billion has been settled.

Alhaji Idris Tune stated that the payment is being conducted in an orderly manner, stressing that, pensioners who retired from service up to June 2018 had received their gratuities.

He said very soon clearance/verification of next batch retirees will commence for the payment of their gratuities.

He stated that over 728 civil servants will retire from service in the state within the year.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary Dept of Establishment, pension  traandining, Alh Musa Rabi’u Mahuta, said the exercise is suppose to be conducted on annual basis aimed at enhancing the welfare of Pensioners in the state.

He said the last time the exercise was conducted it was over 10 years.

Alhaji Musa Mahuta said the verification exercise is not meant to watch hunt any person rather to improve on the lifestyle of Pensioners in the state.

The Perm sec then solicited for the cooperation of all pensioners to achieve the desired goal.

In a vote the thanks, the State Chairman of Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Alh Mahabub Daura expressed delight to the present administration for the attention being accorded to retired civil servants.

He noted that the decentralization of the exercise in the 7 No zones of the state will smoothens the successful conduct of the exercise. He then assured the cooperation of all Pensioners for successful conduct of the exercise.
