Katsina Contributory Healthcare Agency vows to improve State’s health indices

The Katsina State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency has vowed to reverse the state’s poor health indices.

This promise was made by the Director General of the Agency, Muhammad Tukur Ibrahim Safana when he led other staff of the Agency to a courtesy visit to the Katsina State Head of Service, Alhaji Idris Tune on Thursday at his office.

According to the DG, a recent baseline assessment survey conducted by the agency in a bid to prepare for its take-off revealed that 99% of people in the state use out-of-pocket means to access Healthcare services which according to WHO is ‘catastrophic’.

However, Mr. Muhammad Tukur said the agency under his leadership will turn that to as low as 20%.

Also, the DG, while appreciating the effort of the office of HOS towards his agency’s progress, said they are in his office to update him on the successes recorded within the short time of its establishment.
The Director-General also informed the Head of service of the latest Unveiling of NHIS Under One Roof where all the respective State contributory Agencies across the country will share a common ICT and M&E framework that is accessible to all units which are in line with the Schemes set down procedures and the APCs Next Level Agenda of achieving the Presidential mandate of Universal Health Coverage in Nigeria

While responding, the HoS, commended the agency’s achievements within the short period of its establishment which he linked to the leadership qualities of its Director-General.

Mr. Tune also promised to continue to provide all the necessary bureaucratic support to the agency for its success.

He also advised the agency to consider the peculiarities of their society in executing their projects and programs.

Highlights of the visit were the presentation of the agency’s handbooks and flyers to the HoS by the DG of the agency.
