Late night fire razes female hostel at School of Health Technology Kankia
The commissioner of Health Engr. Yakubu Nuhu Danja has inspected the female hostel razed by fire at Kankia Iro school of Health technology Kankia.
The Health commissioner who was represented by the permanent secretary of the ministry Dr Kabir Mustapha was accompanied to the visit by the Director works and other staff of the ministry.
On arrival at the school, the officials were received by the provost college of Health sciences Alh Tanimu Ibrahim, the chairman Governing Board Alh Tanimu Abdulkadir and the management of the college.
Dr Kabir Mustapha pointed out that the visit was meant to ascertain the level of damages caused by the fire incident and to symphasize with the victims. He pointed out that on hearing the incidence, Governor Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello masari has directed the ministry to ascertain the level of the damages and cause of the fire.
The permanent secretary who prayed for to avert future occurrence of the incidence said the state Government is determined to give quick response to the problem.
While calling on the students to always be cautious with their source of cooking and electric appliances Dr Kabir Mustapha also drew their attention to concentrate on their studies for their success.
The provost college of Health sciences Alhaji Tanimu Ibrahim Kankia told the commissioner that the fire incident was caused by electric fault around 3:00am on Saturday.
The provost added that although no life was lost but the fire incident has resulted to the lost of properties worth millions of naira.
Alh Tanimu Ibrahim who conducted the commissioner round a proposed rooms for the relocation of the victims said the management of the school has already provided them transport fares travel for their respective homes before they come back for the continuation of their studies.
The chairman Governing Board of the college of Health sciences Alh Tanimu Abdulkadir commended the state Governor and the Health ministry for the quick response to the problem. As at the time of this visit, some of the victims were seen relocating to other hostels.
