Katsina Health Commissioner inspect State Isolation center for Lassa, others
The Honorable Commissioner of Health, Engr Nuhu Yakubu Danja has inspected the State Isolation center where victims of confirmed case of Lassa fever are being treated on Friday.
The center is situated in the General Hospital, Katsina.
The Commissioner, who was accompanied by top government officials and stakeholders in the state’s health sector during the visit reiterated the state government commitment towards prevention and management of the disease and all other infectious diseases.
The further reminded the general public on the need to exhibit highest form of personal and environmental hygiene as well as report any suspected cases to the nearest health care centers across the State.
While making his remarks, the Executive Secretary of the Katsina State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Shamsuddeen Yahaya said the government has deployed all health measures towards the prevention and control of the disease.
He added that drugs for the viral fever and Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) have been secured by the Katsina State government for patients and health personnel to curve the spread of the disease.
He also said massive media campaign have been ongoing regarding the disease for public enlightenment.
Those who accompanied the Commissioner to the isolation center include the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr Kabir Mustapha, the State Epidemiologist, Dr Kabir Suleman, Director, Medical Laboratory Science, SPHCDA, Muhammad Ibrahim Kaita, the Program Manager, SOML, Dr Bashir among others.
