Katsina State record 4 suspected Lassa fever cases
As the dreaded viral hemorrhagic fever, Lassa fever continues to ravage some states in Nigeria, Katsina State who had been on red alert, had recorded no fewer than four suspected cases within the month of January, Katsina Post learned.
This was disclosed to newsmen in the Katsina State Ministry of Health on Thursday by the Hon. Commissioner of Health, Engr Nuhu Yakubu Danja.
According to him, the State recorded four suspected cases of the viral disease but they all turned out to be negative after laboratory tests on the patients blood sample.
Hon Danja further said that the Katsina State government under the leadership of Rt Hon Aminu Bello Masari has already approved for the emergency procurement of drugs for the disease as well as Personal Protective equipment (PPE) for the health personnel in the state.
He further said that the state ministry of health has since wrote to the two emirates notifying them of the disease and urged them to sensitize their subjects on the disease.
He urged citizens to be vigilant and report any suspected case to the nearest health facility.
