Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic suspend admission for undergraduate programmes
The Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic, HUK has announced its suspension of admission for the eight undergraduate programmes from 2019/2020 to 2020/2021 academic session.
This is contained in a notice for the general public dated 23rd January and signed by the Academic Secretary of the institution, Comrade Mansur Garba FCAI, FICEN.
Below is the content of the public notice:
SUBJECT: SUSPENSION OF ADMISSION EXERCISE FOR EIGHT (8) NO. UNDERGRADUATE
AFFILIATED PROGRAMMES FROM 2019/2020 TO 2020/2021 ACADEMIC SESSION
This is to inform the general public that, pursuant to the approval given to Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic, Katsina by the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the establishment of Full-time mode of Eight (8) no. Undergraduate Programmes in affiliation with Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna. The Polytechnic immediately paid a visit to the FUT Minna and met with the relevant officials, including the Academic Secretary, some Heads of Departments and the Directorate of Collaboration, Affiliation and Linkage (DCAL) in preparation for the commencement of 2019/2020 Admission Exercise impromptu.
However, during the process of admission screening and shortlist, the Polytechnic observed that over ninety percent (90%) of applicants did not fulfill the requirements for admission, as they either do not have the 180 minimum cut-off points for UTME or do not have the required DE registration with JAMB. This made it impossible to upload them onto the JAMB Central Admission Processing System (CAPS).
Consequently, the Academic Board at its regular meeting held on 9th July, 2019 having received our report on the matter through the Registrar, recommended admitting products of JAMB NCE and ND candidates without Direct Entry Registration, and that a special request be written to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) allow the candidates for leverage to be regularized for Special Admission. This request was eventually declined by JAMB accordingly. As a result of the foregoing, the Polytechnic cannot admit candidates for the 2019/2020 Academic Session.
In the light of the above, we wish to further inform the general public that the Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic, Katsina has suspended the 2019/2020 admission exercise for the undergraduate programmes until 2020/2021 Academic Session. We regret any inconvenience this might have caused.
All prospective candidates who wish to apply for admission into the approved programmes should kindly undergo the necessary D.E. Registration with JAMB and choose Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic as choice. The programmes available for application are:
