Movement restriction: Katsina gov’t says use of Keke NAPEP not prohibited
In what can be describe as a sort of a relief to the people of Katsina, the State government have issued a fresh statement exempting the use of tricycles otherwise known as KEKE NAPEP from the recent Executive Order signed yesterday by Governor Aminu Bello Masari.
This is contained in a statement signed by Abdu Labaran Malumfashi, the Director General, Media to the Executive Governor on Thursday.
The statement reads in part “the general public is invited to take note that the Executive Order signed yesterday by Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State banning the use of motor cycle between the hours of 7.00pm to 6.00am does NOT affect tricycle, better known as KEKE NAPEP.
“For the purpose of clarity, the order, which is backed by Section 5, Sub Section 2 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is only applicable and limited to motorcycle.
“Tricycle owners, riders and users are therefore advised to disregard the earlier announcement made yesterday suggesting its inclusion in prohibition order”, he concluded.
