Re-surfacing insecurity in Katsina handiwork of smugglers – Gov Masari

The Katsina State Governor, Rt Hon Aminu Bello Masari has discredited the news going around that the peace deal entered by the government with armed bandits in the so-called frontline Local Government Areas saying that the current situation, especially in Jibia, is the “handwork of rice smugglers”.

The Governor made this known in a series of tweets via his twitter handle (@GovernorMasari) on Thursday evening.

According to the Governor, “The Peace process we started has not collapsed, despite the current incidences being recorded in some LGAs. We have discovered that what we are witnessing, especially in Jibia, is the handwork of rice smugglers.

“They invited bandits from Zamfara and Niger Republic to clear the borders for them to continue with their nefarious activities. We have credible information that we will certainly utilize to get to the root of all this. All those responsible will be dealt with severely.

“Most of the information going round trying to discredit what we have achieved through the peace process are mischievous. We know we are not perfect, but that doesn’t make all the fabrications to be true. We welcome objective criticisms because they make us restrategize and strong”, he said.
