Katsina students to represent Nigeria at International debate competition

Katsina state Debate contingents emerged winners of the just concluded 59th inter-subebs Debate championship held in the state.

Announcing the result, the director programmes, president school Debate of Nigeria PSDN professor Bennedict Emunemu said Katsina state who scored 2340 marks defeated it closest opponent Bauchi state contingents who scored 2180 marks while Imo state got third position with 987 marks.

Having emerged winners, Katsina Post learnt that the students will represent Nigeria at the international level.

The Universal Basic Education Commission UBEC has donated the sum of two hundred thousand naira, one hundred and fifty thousand naira and one hundred thousand naira for the first, second and third positions respectively.

Radio Nigeria observed that, Haris Umar from Katsina emerged best speaker of the Debate followed by Maryam Kabir from Kaduna state.

In a remark, the Katsina State Governor represented by the commissioner for Education Dr Badamasi lawal Charanchi who expressed appreciation to the conduct of the Debate said the victory of the state contingents was a clear testimony of given priority to the Education sector by the state government.

The occasion has witnessed presentation of excellence to the Education stakeholders across the country.

Those that received the awards are the Katsina State Governor, His Excellency Aminu Bello Masari, the Katsina State Speaker, House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tasi’u Musa Maigari, The Katsina State Commissioner for Education and SUBEB Chairman among others.

Similarly, the Debate officials and participants led by former minister of education prof jerry Agada had earliar paid homage to the emir of Daura as well as visitations to the historical monuments in Daura town.
