The Senate Committee on Tertiary Institution and TETFUND has yesterday commenced public hearing on the bill to establish Federal University of Agriculture and Technology Funtua.
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on TETFUND, Distinguished Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita, Katsina North presided over the occation as revealed in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Mallam Abdulkadir Lawal.
Recalled that the Bill was sponsored by Senator Bello Mandiya, read for the first time on Tuesday 12th November 2019 in the hallowed chamber.
“The Bill seeks to establish the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Funtua, to make comprehensive provisions for it’s management and administration and for Related Matters.” He said
“When Established, the University will bridge the curriculum gap and advance governments long term diversification and growth plan in Agricultural sector. The school is also conceived as a multi disciplinary institution, apart from its primary focus, it will offer programs in engineering and areas of applied research which are critical to Nigeria’s development aspirations.” He added
Important dignitaries who graced the event includes, Former Vice President- Alh Atiku Abubakar, Deputy President of the Senate- Omo Agege, FCT Minister- Muhammed Bello, Alh Umaru Mutallab- Chairman Jaiz Bank, Senator Abu Ibrahim, Alh Abdullahi Faskari- former Deputy Governor Katsina, Engr Nura Khalil, Professor Malumfashi, Sarkin Maska- Alh Sambo Idris Sambo among many other Distinguished personalities.
