Customs seize 765 bags of rice, arrest 6 suspected smugglers in Katsina
Six suspected rice smugglers have been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Katsina State.
Two of the suspects are said to be from Katsina while the other four are from Kebbi State.
This is also as the operatives of the Nigerian Customs Service seized 765 bags of smuggled Rice, 561 jerrycans of vegetable oil, 213 cartoons of noodles and 35 belts of second hand clothes in Katsina in the last six days alone.
The commander in charge of NCS’s Drill 4 comprising of Katsina, Kebbi and Sokoto, Assistant Comptroller General, Bashir Abubakar and the Comptroller Katsina/Kaduna Command of the NCS, Dahiru Musa Kirawa made the above revelations to news men in Katsina.
According to ACG Bashir Abubakar, the six suspected smugglers are being drilled to track their sponsors.
He said the service will now go after those behind the smuggling activities.
On his part, Mr. Kirawa called on businessmen in the state to see the anti smuggling activity as n opportunity to further create a conducive environment for local business to develop.
