Katsina State Deputy Governor Qs. Alh Mannir Yakubu has Inaugurated a Committee on payment of Compensation to Communities affected by the jare dam project.

According to the Deputy Governor over one hundred and thirty six million naira was set a side for the compensation and relocation of the affected communities.

The Committee headed by the special adviser to the governor on agriculture Dr. Abba yakubu Abdullahi, include security agencies and traditional rulers in the area, ministry of local government and that of water resources as its members.

The deputy governor noted that the JARE DAM project was stated in november 2016 but it was abandoned due to compensation problems between the federal government and the twenty one communities who will vacate. from the area.

Alh Mannir yakubu said in view of its important, especially in development of irrigation activities in the area.

The state government set up a committee in January 2017 to review the document and made recommendations on how the state government could assist.

When committee submitted its reports governor masari administration earmarked the over one hundred and twenty six million for the repayment of compensation to those Communities.

In a remark, the chairman of the committee and also speacial adviser to the governor masari on agriculture Dr. Abba yakubu Abdullahi thanked the state government for the opportunity and assured to justify the confidence repose in them.

Speaking on behalf of the affected communities Makaman Katsina District Head of Bakori Alh Sule Idris Nadabo appreciated the state government for the effort and hoped that the project will soon be completed for the benefit of people in the area and entire state.
