As part of the ongoing efforts to secure peace in Katsina state, Governor Aminu Bello Masari this Wednesday paid visits to some of the offices of development partners in Abuja.

The Governor’s first point of the visit was Japan International Co-operation Agency-JICA., Governor Aminu Bello Masari had a series of interactive sessions with country Director of JICA.

Alhaji Aminu Masari spoke at length on the insecurity situation in the eight Frontline local governments and asked the Agencies, through their development strides to partner with Katsina state government to provide schools, veterinary clinics, dams, health clinics, grazing areas, vocational rehabilitation Centres, and rededication of cattle routes among others.

The Governor explained that the herdsmen have suffered neglect for long and therefore needed urgent support to stop what happened in the northeast from resurfacing in the north-west.

At JICA, Governor Aminu Masari solicited for the sinking of boreholes in the eight Frontline local governments for herdsmen to have portable water for human and animal consumption.

He also asked JICA country Director to help in the provision of more infrastructures for the herdsmen to have a sense of belonging.

He said paucity of funds bedevilling government made him look for partners to assist in the resettlement of the herdsmen.

The JICA Country Director said the Agency had done so many projects in partnership with RUWASSA.
She said the Agency had impacted farmers in Katsina state through its agricultural programme.

She said that the programme had been assisting in rice harvest and processing to make local rice compete with the imported commodity.

The country Director of JICA assured Governor Masari that the Agency would support the Katsina state government to resettle the bandits.

The Managing Director of RUWASSA, Engineer Aminu Dayyabu in the company of Permanent secretary in the state ministry of water Resources, Alhaji Ubale Zango briefed the gathering on the state of the Drilling Rig donated by JICA to the government.

Engineer Aminu Dayyabu explained that over 625 boreholes were drilled with the donated Rig throughout the state.

The Desk officer in JICA, Gulma Sadiq Abubakar who is the Agency’s consultant for urban Environment and water sanitation WASH announced that JICA is sponsoring one RUWASSA staff from Katsina state to attend a training in Ethiopia in December, this year.

He asked the Katsina state government to take the opportunity of the various training at National Water Institute in Kaduna to train the newly recruited 63 staff of RUWASSA as being sponsored by JICA.
