N5.7bn SURE-P funds: Court adjourned EFCC case against Shema

Trial of EFCC against Katsina ex-Gov Shema over N5.7bn SURE-P funds resumes today

The trial going on between Katsina State former Governor, Barrister Ibrahim Shehu Shema and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over a 26-count charge bordering on money laundering of N5.7 billion SURE-P funds during his tenure has resumed today, the 8th of October 2018.

The trial ongoing at the Federal High Court in Katsina and is being presided over by Justice Hadiza Shagari.

Recall that the same judge earlier ordered for the release of the defendant’s International Passport to enable him to travel abroad for medical treatment in June this year.

Then, she equally ordered Shema to forward his fresh medical report to the court before the passport released to him.

The judge equally ordered him to return the passport to the court on Sept. 2 while also adjourning the trial to today.

After a brief debate between the defense and prosecution counsels, the judge adjourned the case to 30th October, 2019.
